You can now place video calls to other NexTalk Users or to Video Relay Services. NexTalk video turns your PC into a video phone removing the need for a stand-alone TV based video phone.

What are the system requirements to run NexTalk.net Video?

  • Pentium-4 2.0 GHz or or AMD equivalent processor with 256 MB RAM running Windows 2000 or XP.
  • Hyperthreading CPU recommended.
  • Video card with 128 MB RAM supporting DirectX 9.0c.
  • One USB Port (USB 2.0 recommended).
  • USB camera capable of 30 frames per second.
  • Camera resolution supported: CIF (352x288).

How do I make a NexTalk video relay call?

Just press the "Relay Call" button, select "Use NexTalk VRS" and enter the phone number of the person to call. The screen shot below shows the screen for starting a video relay call.

What are the camera requirements to create a video call?

NexTalk can use a wide variety of video cameras including inexpensive web cameras. The list below are the cameras we have tested.

 

NxVideo was designed to be hardware agnostic. The software has been comprehensively tested with a large number of components and operating systems. A list of recommended hardware follows. If you encounter a problem, please contact support.

Recommended Hardware

The following hardware produced the best results in our tests and is recommended by NxVideo.  Please pay special attention to the exact product names, especially when selecting a camera for use with NxVideo. Vendors typically offer several similarly named products with huge quality differences between them.

PC
NxVideo adapts to the actual performance of the PC. In other words, the faster the PC the better the video quality.

  • Windows PC with Win 2000/XP
  • USB1 or USB2 interface for Webcams
  • Internal or external grabber board if analog cameras are used 64 MB suggested
  • CPU starting from 1.500 MHz, 2 GHz recommended
  • 1 GB memory
  • Internet connections: DSL or Cable recommended
